A Top Historical Destination: Williamsburg, Virginia

Image
If you are interested in the history of the United States, then a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia might just be the perfect place for you. It is full of rich history, colonial houses, and beautiful scenery. As an avid traveller, I have been to many different places and Williamsburg was one of the nicest. It felt like you were stepping back into a simpler time, and everyone was so friendly. Colonial Williamsburg has so many historical activities to offer as well.   Governor's Palace (Shown Above) We stayed at the Williamsburg Lodge by Marriott Autograph Collection. It is newly renovated and you are only a short walk from Colonial Williamsburg, which is where we spent a majority of our time when we were there.   First, on our trip we walked the Colonial Williamsburg Historical Park and William and Mary College. It definitely made me wish I was going to college there! As far as food and beverage go, my father suggested we eat at one of the old taverns. Not only

Fairy Tales Can Come True: Disneyland: Anaheim, California

Image
If you are planning a trip to Southern California then Disneyland should be a first stop on your list. Whether your a child or just a child at heart, Disneyland has something for everyone! Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge I have been going to Disneyland every year since I was a child and it holds a special place in my heart. Whenever I visit I feel my troubles can just melt away and I can become the child I once was. It is a truly magical place and there is so much to do for both the young and old. Disneyland has more than just rides, so below I compiled a list of must see’s in order to make your dream vacation even more magical.  First, when you are in Disneyland, I would highly recommend either downloading the app or picking up a brochure. This will help you figure out when to see various parades, and show times. Mickey’s Magic Map is a really fun show to see and it is located right outside of toon town. After the show feel free to head to Mickey’s house to meet

Tips and Tricks for the Perfect International Getaway // Budget Friendly

Image
Choosing A Flight When choosing your international flight, there are several features to keep in mind. First, is budget and second, is time and place. Personally, budget was the biggest factor when I chose my flight. My first tip to you would be to go ahead and use the Google Flight Tracker. It will show you the best prices and what time of year will be cheapest to fly. Summer months are going to be more expensive as it is the time of year everyone wants to travel. I would suggest looking outside of the typical Travel seasons. My friends and I traveled mid October and we were able to secure a round trip flight for as little as $270 from California to London/Paris!  The second tip about international travel is to remember that there will be a time change. Before leaving I was a little nervous about the dreaded jet lag! What I soon found out was because we had an overnight flight, jet lag on the way to London really didn’t hit me at all. Of course this won’t be everyone’s exper

California Hidden Gems: Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove

Image
Growing up in California I have found that there are so many places, or hidden gems as I like to call them, that people are unaware they can visit. One of these places is located in Pismo, California and is called the Monarch Butterfly Grove. During the winter months of October to February you will find thousands of migrating Monarch Butterflies gliding around the beautiful Eucalyptus Trees. It is honestly a breathtaking and amazing experience. On site there are also local guides who will help answer any of your questions regarding the butterflies, their habitat, and their migration patterns.  As of December 30, 2017 the Monarch Butterfly count for Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove was 12,075 and that is a lot of butterflies. I visited the grove in mid January and was blown away by the amount of butterflies present in this grove. It is really something you must see in person to really get a feel of what that many butterflies looks like. The grove has been known, at times, to r

Fall in London, England

Image
If you are looking to travel outside of the United States, a perfect first stop would be England. This was my first true trip outside of the USA and I will say I loved it! London is a bright and booming city full of life and culture. In fact, it felt like a city that never sleeps. This was a positive, because you never felt unsafe walking around the city, even after dark. I traveled to London in October with two of my friends, and this time of year is a really perfect time to visit. I don’t know if we were just lucky, but the weather was perfect. It wasn’t cold, but it also wasn’t hot. As far as transportation goes, we only took the London Underground. We never had a problem with it, and it was super reliable. We also stayed in a hotel near the underground station which was really nice.   Although, we were only in the city for four days we made the most of our trip and saw as many sights as we possibly could. A must see if you are in the city is the Tower of London. The tower,

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada : Butchart and Buttefly Gardens

Image
Victoria, British Columbia of Vancouver Island has so many different activities to choose from. The city is beautiful and one could easily spend hours just sightseeing in the downtown area. You can do anything from visiting the oldest Chinatown in Canada to spending the afternoon on a tour of Craigdarroch Castle. I was in the city for less than a day and decided to visit Butchart Gardens, which is just a short drive outside of the city. Butchart Gardens is a 55 acre set of gardens which was brought to life by Jennie Butchart. What started in 1912 as a passion project for Jennie has turned into a magnificent, must see, garden oasis. The gardens have a long and interesting history. On our trip to the gardens we were given many different facts and tidbits about Butchart Gardens as well as what encompasses the greater area of Victoria.   One of the more fascinating stories we heard was about the founders of the gardens. While Jennie Butchart, the real proprietor of the gardens, co

Alaska: The Last Frontier; Haines

Image
If you want to visit a town which is off the beaten path, then Haines, AK might just be the place for you. It is a small town which is not as touristy as some of the other towns you may encounter in coastal Alaska. Here you can check out a local brewery, raft down the Chilkat River, or visit one of the many museums located in town. Haines was by far the coldest of the Alaskan towns I visited, so if you plan on being here on a rainy day definitely pack your raincoat and beanie. Haines has activities suitable for both young and old. If you are over 21 years of age and whisky and spirits are what you desire, than the first stop you should make is to the local distillery company Port Chilkoot Distillery. Taste some of the best Alaska has to offer with Icy Straight Vodka, 50 Fathoms Gin, or Green Siren Absinthe. Fun Facts: Haines is the location of both popular television shows and movies. If you are a fan of the Discovery show Gold Rush Alaska, you will be pleased to find out that much o
